Objectives

"Our overall objective is to introduce the
diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders into the mainstream of health care in Walla Walla, Washington; Moscow, Idaho; and other communities, and to make healthier sleep a possibility for everyone."

Goals of the Project

To determine the prevalence of sleep disorders in a primary care setting.
To educate and train a group of community physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
To study changes in the diagnosis of sleep disorders as the primary care physicians receive training in sleep medicine.
To determine trends of referrals by community physicians as awareness of sleep disorders increases.
To involve the community in order to foster further penetration into the medical mainstream.
To obtain outcome and treatment data on sleep disorders in a primary care setting.
